Breaking Limits: Wikid’s ‘Essence’ Smashes New Record On Billboard World Digital Song Sales

“Essence” by Nigerian Superstar, Wizkid featuring fellow Nigerian singer, Tems has become the very first Nigerian song to score a no. 1 position on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales.

Recalling that Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ has debuted at Number 82 spot on this week’s Billboard 100 earning Tems her first career entry on the chart.

The song has hit a major millstone once again, topping the Billboard World Digital Songs Sales chart for the week ending July 24th, 2021. However, it is not the first time the singer has topped the chart, having seen his collaboration with Beyonce, Brown Skin Girl peak at no. 1 back in 2019.

Apart from the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart, ‘Essence ‘has broken countless records both in Nigeria and beyond. The song has gained over 15 million views on YouTube and is currently no. 23 on the US Apple Music top 100 chart, and just recently broke into the Billboard Hot 100 at no. 82. 

Top Celebrities like Snoop Dogg, P Diddy, kevin hart and others have also shared videos of themselves vibing to the song in their spare time and at public occasions.
