Professional boxer, Deontay Wilder, has revealed that he hails from the southern region of Nigeria as he also declared himself a ‘born warrior’.

Deontay Wilder hardly speaks at press conference: 'shows how weak he is,' says Tyson Fury - Insider Voice

The former  WBC heavyweight title holder made this known via a post he shared on his verified Instagram page, on Tuesday, the 21st of September, 2021.

Taking to Instagram, Deontay said that the blood of the Benin people flow through his veins.

“I was born to be a warrior, Ima Edo man. It permeates my blood and travels through my veins. I am a king,” he wrote.

This is not the first the ex-heavyweight boxing champion has spoken on his origin as it could be recalled that earlier this year, Deontay disclosed that he would visit Nigeria after completing what he is currently working on to learn more about his culture.

“My tribe is the Edo tribe in Nigeria. I want to go back and learn more about my culture and information with things about me. Once I’m done with what I’m doing, I’m going back to see my tribe, Edo,”

“I want to see my culture and my ancestors and learn a lot of things. We all have lots of things that we are connected to that we know nothing about. I’ll love to go there and do research about my roots and my tribe.” he said in an Interview.
