Tems Hits Milestone On Spotify
Nigerian singer and record producer, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has hit a major milestone on Swedish audio streaming and media platform, Spotify.
The songstress recently surpassed seven million monthly listeners on the music streaming platform, making her the first female artist in Africa to rack up such numbers.
Tems musical career has moved to another level ever since she was featured on Wizkid’s summer jam, ‘Essence’. She gained global recognition and debuted on Billboard chart all thanks to the song.
Although the song is currently one of the most talked about song in Nigeria and the world at large, Tems still feels she didn’t deliver a fire verse like her other songs.
“Even on the day I recorded my verse on the song, I felt I could do better. I asked them to send me the beat again so I could redo my verse but Wizkid’s team said it was great. I told them I still wanted to ‘top it’ but they did not let me. However, I was happy with it. I always like to challenge myself and I used to be such a perfectionist. Wizkid also said he liked it,” she said in an interview with The Dotty Show on Apple Music 1 Radio.
