Tems Beats Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Others, Becomes Most-Streamed Female African Singer On Spotify
Popular Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi aka Tems, is now the most-streamed female African singer on Spotify.
Making the announcement via their Twitter handle, Spotify revealed that Tems has a total of 236 million monthly listeners, beating Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and others.
“Tems becomes the most-streamed female Afrobeats artist of all time on Spotify with 236 million total streams surpassing Tiwa Savage,” – they wrote.
This is coming after Wizkid and Tems were nominated for the ‘Best African Act’ category at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA).
Reacting to her nomination, Tems said;
“I’m extremely excited to be nominated for the Best African Act at the MTV EMAs. The last few years have been crazy and I am just grateful to God for all the blessings so far. I am honoured to be a part of the amazing voices from our continent who are breaking barriers and redefining music globally.”

Other African acts nominated for the category includes Ghanaian-American singer, Amaarae, Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platnumz, and South African singer, Focalistic.
