‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ Bags Award In Dubai
Funke Akindele-Bello and JJC Skillz’ gangster comedy film, “Omo Ghetto: The Saga” has won its first-ever international award.
According to co-producers, FilmOne NG, the 2020 comedy recently won the Africa’s highest-grossing film of 2020/21 award at the META Cinema Conference in the United Arab Emirates.
Sharing a photo of the award, FilmOne NG wrote on Instagram;
We are super excited about the latest accolade won by Omo Ghetto: The Saga, as Africa’s highest-grossing film of 2020/21, at the just concluded META Cinema Conference, in Dubai, UAE.

Released in December 2020, ‘Omo Ghetto’ broke a four-year Nollywood record barely a month after its theatrical release. Before the end of its cinema run, the movie had grossed over N500 million in box office. So far, the movie has accumulated a total amount of N636,139,120 from cinema views and others.
The movie follows the story of Shalewa aka Lefty (Akindele) as she struggles between living a life of wealth and comfort provided by her adopted mother and returning to her ghetto lifestyle. It also stars Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello, Zubby Michael, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, Alex Ekubo.
