Asake’s London concert: 8 hospitalized as Police cancels concert
Following a crush at a London musical venue where Nigerian musician Ahmed Ololade, commonly known as Asake, was supposed to perform, four people were taken to the hospital on Friday in critical condition.
The show at the Brixton O2 Academy was immediately postponed by the police. Eight individuals were reportedly rushed to hospitals after getting stuck in a mob of individuals trying to enter the arena.
Two other injured people received medical attention on the spot. According to the police, a “large crowd” attempted to obtain admission without tickets” on Thursday night, at which point emergency services were contacted. In a video taken from the outside, numerous individuals are seen clamoring to enter the facility.
When officers, medical teams, and firefighters arrived, according to the Metropolitan Police force, they discovered “a number of victims with injuries suspected to have been caused by crushing.”

The police department promised to conduct a comprehensive inquiry of what transpired and how the officers handled the crowd.
Ade Adelekan, the Metropolitan Police Gold Commander, stated that police officers “know they have to be accountable for their conduct.” He said that as part of the investigation into the event, police’ body-worn video evidence would be examined.
“This is an extremely upsetting incident which has left four people critically ill in hospital. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families,” he said.
