AMVCA Award Night: Toyin Lawani and 6 Six Other Who Wore Dramatic Outfits That Caused Mixed Reactions
The eighth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) saw some interesting fashion moments, as is typical of high-profile events.
While stars like Osas Ighodaro, Nengi, and a slew of others had fans gushing over their ensembles, it wasn’t the same for everyone else.
Toyin Lawani, a Nigerian designer/stylist, brought all the drama with her look at the vent, and popular crossdresser James Brown did the same. However, their appearance was met with mixed feelings because not everyone seemed to like them.

Toyin Lawani of Tiannah Empire designed the purple gown worn by the popular Yoruba movie star. A ball skirt with large flower-shaped cutouts was embellished on the gloved sleeved dress.

The Lagos socialite also caused a stir when he arrived at the AMVCA event wearing a cape. According to Lawani, the painting was inspired by the New York City painting on Alicia Keys’ Met Gala cape.

5. Ifu Ennada:
Another star who made headlines for her AMVCA ensemble was the 2018 Big Brother Naija winner. Ifu, who was also styled by Lawani, wore a black ball gown with a bottom section made up of multiple black masks.

For the occasion, the actress opted for a daring look. She wore an all-black, fully masked ensemble that was heavily inspired by Kim Kardashian. This look, on the other hand, drew a lot of criticism online.

The media personality and entertainer arrived at the event dressed as a mobile chandelier. The look (also styled by Lawani), which mimics one of Lawani’s epic birthday looks, sparked quite a stir online.
