BIG TEMS: Tems Transcends Wizkid To Become Spotify’s Most Streamed African Artiste
Nigerian R&B singer, Tems, is officially Most Streamed African Artiste on Swedish audio streaming and media platform, Spotify.
The “Try Me” crooner, currently has over twelve (12) million monthly listeners on the music streaming platform, making her the first female artist and overall act in Africa to rack up such numbers.
The number of Tems listeners zoomed after she was featured on Canadian rapper, Drake’s latest album, ‘Certified Lover Boy’.
Recall that Tems had a total of seven million monthly listeners as of Sept. 1st, but with Drake’s feature and Essence buzz, she surpassed Wizkid who has over ten million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Tems’ musical career skyrocketed after she was featured on Wizkid’s summer jam, ‘Essence’. She gained global recognition and debuted on Billboard chart all thanks to the song.
