Afrobeats Superstar, Wizkid, has finally responded to clapbacks and backlashes from Nigerian Rappers who tackled him on social media over his comment on Rap music.

Many Nigerian rap singers, especially native rapper Oladips, were offended by Big Wiz’s contentious statement in which he disparaged rap music by calling it “boring” and “dead.”

The street-hop artist used his social media page to bash Wizkid with a song, ridiculing his comments and accusing him of ignoring the Nigerian rap scene.

In response to Wizkid’s remarks on rap music, veteran rapper MI Abaga listed a number of Nigerian rappers who are now popular, saying that the genre is “on the increase,” including Vector, A.Q, Falz, Ladipoe, Blaqbonez, Ice Prince, and Ajebo Hustlers.

LadiPoe and Blaqbonez also added their vocals to the mix. The counter challenge was set by Chocolate City Rapper, who tweeted a picture of himself with the phrase “I’m not dead, I’m attractive.” The tweet that stated “I’m not dead, I’m sexy” was then quoted by LadiPoe.

When Wizkid revealed via his Twitter page on Friday afternoon that he will be making a “special announcement” on December 3, many of his admirers and detractors were intrigued.

The “Essence” singer then used his Snapchat on Saturday, December 3, to disparage the Nigerian rap scene in response to criticism of his comment.

He also listed some of his preferred African rappers.
