Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer Chukwuka Ekweani, popularly known as CKay, has surpassed Nigerian songstress Tems to become Spotify’s Afrobeats act with the most listeners.

The talented artist has surpassed a whopping fifteen million monthly listeners on the music streaming platform Spotify, making him the biggest act doing the Afrobeats genre to rack up such numbers.

Holding the record was Nigerian soul-stirring female singer Tems, who earlier surpassed Afrobeats poster-boy Wizkid with over fourteen million monthly listeners on Spotify.

However, in a recent update, CKay, whose smashing tune ‘Love Nwatiti’ has been blowing up worldwide for a while now and even debuted at no. 80 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on Monday, the 27th of September 2021, has surpassed Tems.

Surprisingly, Ckay and Tems currently boast higher monthly listeners on Spotify than heavyweights like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage and the likes.
