Nancy Isime, a Nigerian media figure, has urged her female colleagues not to become enraged or offended when they are referred to as “prostit.utes” or “asha.wo.”

Nancy Isime stated in an interview on ‘Clout Talk Concert’ that society will perceive a woman as a prost.itute if she is not a doctor, lawyer, or engineer.

The television presenter, who was being monitored by Kemi Filani news, said:

“It’s sad we live in a society where any woman who is not a lawyer or an engineer or a doctor, really honestly is seen as a prosti.tute an ‘Ash.awo’. I feel like that word ‘Asha.wo’ has been so circulated to the point that as a woman you shouldn’t allow the word ‘Asha.wo get to you. Because you don’t really have to do anything before you would be called an Ash.awo. You just need to walk on the streets of Lagos and you will be called a prostit.ute”.
