Ifeanyi’s Death: Police decide to perform an autopsy, release 6 staff, detain nanny, cook
The police may perform an autopsy in light of the scandal surrounding the passing of Ifeanyi Adeleke, the three-year-old son of David Adeleke (Davido), Nigeria’s top hip-pop artist, and his wife, Chioma Rowland.
According to The Punch, the police want to conduct an autopsy to ascertain whether Ifeany died after falling into a swimming pool at his father’s home in the Banana Island district of Lagos State.
According to a source with knowledge of the situation, an autopsy is routinely performed by the police in cases like these; but, if the boy’s family objects, the police will abandon their plans.

“Though the family members are not saying anything yet because they are still in shock but until anybody says stop, the standard procedure is to conduct an autopsy and we are going to follow that procedure just like in any case of death.”
The source further added that six out of the eight domestic staff of Davido who were earlier invited for questioning have been arrested while the cook and the nanny are still being detained.
He said:
“It was the work of the nanny to take care of the child (Ifeanyi); the nanny was negligent or how could the boy have left the house without her knowledge?”
Ifeanyi was reportedly taken out of the voting booth and transferred to the hospital, where medics unsuccessfully attempted to revive him. They left Lagoon Hospital, he continued, and were taken in a medical emergency to Evercare Hospital, where he was later declared dead.
His words:
“They have deposited his corpse in the mortuary for an autopsy to reveal the cause of death. All the domestic workers at home when the incident happened have been questioned by the police but only the nanny and cook were detained.”
The two domestic helpers of Davido are still being held, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command.
Hundeyin said:
“I spoke with the DPO and he said the nanny and the cook have been detained. Other domestic workers brought in for questioning were released.”
