JUST IN: South African rapper AKA shot dead in Durban
Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, better known by his stage name AKA, was a multi-award-winning rapper and music producer.
According to reports, the 35-year-old rapper was killed outside a popular restaurant on Durban’s Florida Rd.
The music star and his bodyguard were shot dead in the late hours of Friday, according to police.
AKA was reportedly standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.
Just before 10 p.m., two unknown cars are said to have opened fire.
When an IOL team arrived at the scene on Friday night, police had cordoned off the area. The reason for the shooting is still unknown.
The tragic development came to light after social media users posted a video on Twitter revealing that AKA had been gunned down.
