Thousands of Paris Saint-Germain fans have gathered to greet Lionel Messi who touched down in the French capital to finalise his deal with the Ligue 1 giants.

Messi delighted the PSG fans by wearing a t-shirt reading ‘This is Paris’. He also took time and waved at the fans from a window at the airport.

The 6-time Ballon d’Or winner arrived in France on Tuesday, August 10, to finalise a deal with PSG, days after announcing his exit from boyhood club Barcelona in a tearful press conference.

According to reports, Messi’s plane touched down at Le Bourget airport on the outskirts of the French capital and a large crowd gather to well him. They could be heard chanting; “Messi, Messi, Messi.”

While addressing newsmen, a PSG fan who has been back and forth to the airport every day since Sunday in the hope of seeing Messi arrive said;

“It’s going to be mad. After all, it’s a legend who is arriving,” said Florent Chauveau

“I hope he knows it’s been three days that we have been waiting and that he doesn’t set off in his van without a little wave.”
