Argentine professional footballer, Lionel Andrés Messi has officially broken Portuguese professional footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo record as the sportsman with the most-liked Instagram picture.
The Barcelona player set the Instagram record on Sunday, July 18th, 2021, after he posted a photo of himself posing with the Copa America trophy. The photo gained more than 20 million likes on the platform, surpassing Ronaldo’s record of 19.8 million, which he attained on a post eulogizing “The God of Football”, Diego Armando Maradona.
Messi who is currently in high spirit after winning his first-ever major trophy for his country, expressed his gratitude to God for the achievement.
He wrote in spanish;
