NBBF dedicated the recent male basketball teams’ win to the late Nigerian Icon, Sound Sultan who passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma, a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is a group of related malignancies (cancers) that affect the lymphatic system (lymphomas).

To honour the  veteran artiste who also devoted his time and effort to Nigerian basketball, the NBBF dedicated D’Tigers’ recent friendly wins against the USA and Argentina to the late music star.

Taking to their twitter page, the NBBF stated that Sound Sultan had predicted that Nigeria would become a dominant force in global basketball before he died.

NBBf tweeted;

“We dedicate the victories against US & Argentina to late Olanrewaju Fasasi (Sound Sultan). You saw this day coming when Nigeria would become a dominant force in global basketball. Ironically, the day we won against USA, that was when you gave up the ghost.”
