Usman was born in Auchi, Nigeria. His father was a major in the Nigerian Army and his mother was a teacher. Usman’s father Muhammed Nasiru Usman, who became a pharmacist in the United States, brought his family into the country when Usman was eight years old, immigrating to Dallas, Texas

Since moving to the US at the age of eight, the Nigeria born had never visited his home country. He is now one of the most famous personalities in the MMA, having defended his UFC Welterweight title four times.

The Ultimate Fighting Champ, has recently taken to his verfied Instagram page, announcing that he will be coming back home after all this year

This coming after his latest defense which came with a win over Jorge Masvidal back in April 2021

He wrote;

“πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ Naija, I’m coming home!! See you soon πŸ‘ŠπŸΏπŸ€΄πŸΏπŸŒ @ksmcomp @sir.fela”

Usman during an interview he had with the Pulse back in December 2019, said that he still vividly remembers how hard it was for him and his grandmother to get clean water to drink while growing up in Edo State.

This has remained in his mind all through his years in America and now with his position, this is what he wants to come and fix as a means of giving back.
