Nollywood Actress, Joke Silva Expresses How Appreciative She Is To Be A ‘Nigerian’

Nigerian actress, director, and businesswoman, Joke Silva has taken to social media to express how thankful she is to be a Nigerian.

Joke Silva was born in Lagos into an Amaro family of four children. Her mother, Adebimbola Silva, a pioneering doctor,while her father was a lawyer. She is married to actor Olu Jacobs

A graduate of the University of Lagos and the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, Joke Silva began her career in film in the early 1990s. Bagging her first major role in 1998, starring opposite Colin Firth and Nia Long in the British-Canadian film ‘The Secret Laughter of Women’. In 2006, she won “Best Actress in a Leading Role” at the 2nd Africa Movie Academy Awards for her performance in Women’s Cot, and “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008 for her performance as a grandmother in White Waters.

Taken to her social media page on popular social platform, Instagram, Joke Silva revealed that acting has taken her to different parts of the world, as she backslides on her experiences, expressing how grateful she is to be a Nigerian.

Her post was captioned;

“This thankful Thursday….thankful for my job.My job has taken me to different parts of the world. Ghana, Kenya, Arusha,South Africa,London, Edinburgh ,Toronto, NewYork,California, Connecticut, Boston,Hamburg,Chicago,Los Angeles Netherlands ,Paris ,Antibe ,Grass and now Athens. Different theatres and film sets and classrooms ( as a teacher)…
Thankful I am Nigerian with all the contradictions embedded in that Green Passport…seeing what is and what can be… knowing I ,we ,us must contribute to what is possible…good quality life for all not just a few…keeping out the noise …seeing through the power play and focusing on that ONE thing good quality life for all…what it means what it entails. In my sphere of influence as the Lord empowers me…Thankful Thursday”
