Rapper, Olamide Reveals What Motivated Him To ‘Work Hard’

Popular Nigerian hip hop recording artist, Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, known professionally as Olamide has revealed the key behind his success says, growing up poor wasn’t easy.

The “Rock” hit-maker recently had an interview with the Guardian Uk, during which he was quizzed with various questions, some  about his career while others about his life affairs.

During the interview, the ‘YBNL’ boss stated that growing up poor wasn’t easy.

He also said that there were days when his family find it extremely difficult to afford three square meals because of their financial status.

Adding that life in the ghetto was what motivated him to push and work hard because, he wanted to see the world and experience different cultures from what he grew up seeing.

According to him, one of the difficult thing to do growing up was surviving and he recounted how family struggled to afford a three square meal a day.

Olamide is once of the most successful singers in Nigeria and the world at large, haven won 22 awards out of the 46 he has been nominated for till date. He is also one of the top 10 richest musicians in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $12 million in 2021

“Surviving was hard. Bariga was not far from the other slums you see across the world, from Mumbai to New York and London – life in the ghetto is almost always the same everywhere.

There were days when being able to afford three square meals was a big deal for my family. All of that motivated me to hustle hard – I wanted to see the whole world and experience different cultures from what I grew up seeing.”
