David Adeleke a.k.a. Davido, a Nigerian afro-pop artist, has elicited conflicting reactions among Nigerians and Ghanaians following his inclusion on the official soundtrack of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

With a tweet that said, “No de wamba, we still qualify las las,” the ace singer alluded to the Super Eagles’ failure to overcome the Black Stars of Ghana and qualify for the upcoming World Cup.

His post, however, irritated many people, particularly Ghanaian football fans, who have since mocked Nigerians for their World Cup qualification at the expense of Nigeria.

A Nigerian netizen wrote:

“@davido saved us from Ghana; If Ghanaian tell me say I [Nigeria] no qualified; I go asked them if any of their musician don sing for world cup. I’m undefeated. Las Las na draw.”
