Nigerian superstars, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems, Femi Kuti and Made Kuti have been nominated for 2022 Grammy Awards.

The list of the nominees was released by The Recording Academy on Tuesday, the 23rd of November 2021.

Big Wiz was nominated in the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category for his smashing tune ‘Essence’, featuring fellow Nigerian singer, Tems. Legendary singer, Femi Kuti’s ‘Pa Pa Pa’ song was also nominated in the category.

Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ album and ‘Legacy +’ by Femi and Made Kuti were put up in the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category.

Other Africans like Angelique Kidjo got three Grammy nods: two in the Best Global Music Performance category alongside Burna boy and another for Mother Nature, her 2021 album. SCNSLY by Black Coffee also got a nod for Best Dance Album.

Recall that last year, Burna Boy’s ‘Twice As Tall’ album, became the first Afrobeats album to win a Grammy award.

Wizkid also won a 2021 Grammy for ‘Best Music Video’ following his work in Beyonce’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’.
