Wizkid is not making sense, he was a failed rapper – Ycee spills as he shares video proof
In his most recent social media post, popular Nigerian rapper and musician Oludemilade Martin Alejo, also known as Ycee, slams his coworker Wizkid for making the contentious claim that rap is dead and labels him a failing rapper with a large chest.
This response from Ycee comes after Grammy winner Wizkid, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, criticized Nigerian rappers including MI Abaga, Ice Prince, Olamide, Vector, Falz, and Reminisce in an interview with 10 magazine.
Wizkid said;
“Afrobeats is the new pop. I sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record. If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore.
I don’t listen to rap – that shit is boring to me. It’s d£ad now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”
However, Wizkid’s declaration that the rap music genre is dead and dull provoked a lot of responses from Nigerian rappers, many of whom chose to disparage the singer.
In a recent post, Wizkid attacks Nigerian musicians, referring to them as “broke boys” and listing the names of actual rappers instead.
Like his other colleagues, Ycee criticizes Wizkid in a series of tweets, claiming the “Essence” hitmaker is illogical.
Ycee, who claims to be familiar with Wizkid’s early career in the music business, claimed to have a receipt that proved Wizkid was a failed rapper.
Ycee tweeted; “This thing wey Wiz Dey do no make sense. Rappers work so hard in an industry that doesn’t even favor them. No funding. No support. No nothing. And you wanna make fun of that? Nah G That is not it.”
He added; “Kizz daniels Fvck you challenge- Rappers made that thing pop. Mayorkuns geng challenge Rappers made that thing pop. Anything challenge na rappers Dey do due diligence. Like what the fuck is all this rubbish?
“Failed rappers always have the most to say about the genre sha.”
