Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford has suffer racial abuse on social media following Man Utd loss on Wednesday

Racism in association football is the abuse of players, officials, and fans because of their skin colour, nationality, or ethnicity

Following Manchester United loss to Villarreal in the finial of UEFA Europa League, Marcus Rashford says he has suffered at least 70 racially abused on social media

The 23-year-old, who has previously been a victim of online attacks, said he had received “at least 70 racial slurs” following United’s penalty shootout loss to Villarreal in Gdansk on Wednesday.

Rashford Tweeted;

“At least 70 racial slurs on my social accounts counted so far,” Rashford wrote on Twitter. “For those working to make me feel any worse than I already do, good luck trying.

He further expressed his disappointment on a children math teacher who left a mountain of monkey emojis on his DM

Rashford Wrote;

“I’m more outraged that one of the abusers that left a mountain of monkey emojis in my DM is a maths teacher with an open profile. He teaches children!! And knows that he can freely racially abuse without consequence…”

English football is consumed by racism and hatred. … These days, as footballers continue to be subjected to racist abuse on social media
