On October 5, 2021, it was reported that ‘Essence,’ Wizkid and Tems’ summer banger has been certified platinum in the US. It also becomes the first African song to hit that milestone.
Expressing his gratitude to Tems for making it possible, Wizkid said;

This song will continue to do massive numbers in 2022 and is definitely headed for a billboard entry with its smash remake with British singer, Ed Sheeran.
