In 2007, Oshiomhole ventured into Nigerian politics, running for the governorship of Edo State under the banner of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). The apex court, the Supreme Court of Nigeria, nullified Osunbor’s victory in 2008, paving the way for Oshiomhole to assume the position of governor on November 12, 2008.
