ESSENCE, a song recorded by award-winning Nigerian musician Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, also known as Wizkid, is proving to be a timeless classic.

Since its release, the song has made history, receiving widespread acclaim and being nominated for and winning numerous accolades across the world.

The most recent nomination came from the Billboard Music Awards, where it was nominated for Top R&B Song. This is Wizkid’s eighth Billboard Music Award nomination.

Wizkid was recently in the news after failing to win the Best Global Music Album award at the Grammys.

He was defeated by African music superstar Angelique Kidjo, and in response, he congratulated Angelique Kidjo and Black Coffee on their Grammy triumphs.

Angelique Kidjo won a Grammy for Best Global Music Album, and South African DJ Black Coffee won a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album, making him the first African DJ to do so.
