On social media, a throwback video of Nigerian Afrobeats singer Wizkid discussing how much he contributed to the growth of his former record label, Empire Mates Entertainment, has surfaced.

Wizkid was asked in a 2014 interview with Olisa Adibua if he had paid back enough after leaving EME, despite the time and resources devoted to building his brand.

He stated that when he joined the music label, EME was not a top contender, but he made money for the company by consistently releasing hit songs.

The old video resurfaced following a recent interview granted by EME boss, Banky W, in which he revealed that Wiz only released two albums out of the five he was contractually obligated to release before leaving the label.

In the interview, Wizkid stated that no one enters into a lifetime contract with anyone and that there is no problem with someone forging their own path and expanding independently.
