According to THR, director Jaume Collet-Serra is expected to return, along with the film’s producing team of John Davis, John Fox, Beau Flynn, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia. Michael Green, who co-wrote the first film, is also on board again.

Jungle Cruise proved to be a surprise hit in the pandemic era, with  A- Cinemascore and a 92 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film opened with $35 million at the domestic box office and more than $30 million in Disney+ Premier Access in its first three days. It has since reached $187 million at the worldwide box office.

Collet-Serra is fresh off helming Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Black Adam, which also stars Dwayne Johnson in the role of the DC Comics antihero. It is set for release on July 29th 2022.
